College of Education Sciences hosts educational expert Dr. Iman Mohamed Salama.

The College of Education Sciences hosted the expert, the president of the Multiple Sclerosis Association, and the head of the Community Service Program at the Jubilee Institute, as part of the Expert Hosting Program launched by the University of Jordan.
The hosting of Dr. Salama came within the doctoral course 'Field Applications in Counseling,' taught by Professor Dr. Adel Tanous.
Dr. Iman provided a historical overview of mindfulness and its association with meditation, tracing its evolution from Buddhist traditions and highlighting the differences between Eastern and Western approaches. She emphasized that mindfulness is a psychological attribute and that meditation comprises therapeutic protocols. Studies have shown that mindfulness-based therapies are highly effective as psychological treatments for most mental disorders.
Dr. Iman emphasized its importance in treatment and its impact on the quality of life for multiple sclerosis patients. She presented a film illustrating the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease affecting the nervous system, which can impact either movement or sensation. She discussed the mechanisms for maintaining the quality of life for patients professionally, physically, and psychologically.
Dr. Iman conducted practical mindfulness exercises, starting with deep breathing techniques, yoga exercises, and a meditation session titled "Journey into the Body," accompanied by soothing music.
The students' response to Dr. Iman was excellent. They discussed the importance of such practical exercises, which help them acquire specialized skills in therapy.
